It's finally tomorrow (Feb. 28th). As any other gadget-junkies like me would know by now, Apple is having another product announcements.
Last time I paid attention to one of these announcements, Jobs announced the iPod Nano. (I immediately bought some apple options, and made about 400% over the next several weeks. This time, I bought some options right after the invitation was sent out and so far has made a little over 50% - not bad!).
There have been speculations as to what the announcement will be about. Here are some links to those discussions (engadget, Business 2.0):
- A true Video iPod (with touchscreen+80gb)
- iBoom box (to finally monetize the accessory market)
- A new PDA
- An Intel Mac Mini
- A widescreen iBook
- iTunes Movie Store
I think the Video iPod is the most probable one, given that they said they're announcing 'fun new products'. I don't think the latter three can be classified as 'fun', and I don't think iBoom is big enough of a deal. A new PDA would be a huge announcement and although I want to see one coming in the future, I highly doubt they will jump into this dying market tomorrow.
In the meantime, John Dvorak has written about the possibility of Apple adopting MS Windows (what a surprise!). It is all based on pure speculation, but I think there indeed are signs that this could be true. Especially, the fact that Adobe is not announcing specific plans for writing intel-specific codes for the OSX makes it sound all reasonable. Even if this is true, I seriously don't think they will announce this tomorrow, but I thought that this is worth thinking about at this point because of its huge implications.
Those who are too lazy to read his articles may want to listen to last week's TWIT podcast in which they discussed about this issue.

The verdict is out. The new products are
- New Mac Mini with DualCore Intel chips inside (supposedly 5x faster)
- Front Row with Bonjour (auto discovery, sharing technology)
- iPod leather cases
- iPod HiFi (Boombox)
This is really disappointing for me because I was hoping for something really cool. I guess the market agrees to my sentiment... (Even with Google's announcement, AAPL was the the only tech stock holding up gains ... before the product announcement. Now it has dropped over 2% (-$1.52). Damn!)
